- A Chinese bakery product which is offered between friends or on family gatherings while celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival (on Lunar Aug 15, one of the four most important Chinese festivals).

Traditionally, the ingredients of moon cake included lotus seed pastry with salty egg yolk surrounded by a thin crust. Different types of fillings can be found according to the region's culture. Nowadays the taste has been diversified, for instance, ice cream moon cake with chocolate coating and cheese flavour plus green bean with icy flour coating.

This set I made is the traditional one. Moon cakes are usually eaten in small wedges accompanied by Chinese tea.
