This house is one of only a few remaining homes built by residents of the Talbot Settlement along the shores of Lake Erie. Colonel Thomas Talbot used his influence with Lord Simcoe and others interested in the growth of Upper Canada to obtain 5000 acres of land on which he established 29 townships from Long Point to the Detroit River. Built by an American-trained architect, the house reflects the Federal style with a symmetrical plan. The 72000 clay bricks were fired on site. Many original features are intact including wood floors and trims, window frames and glass panes along with the side-lit front door. Handcrafted quilts and hooked rugs are used throughout the home. The quilt-patterned wall hanging on the barn is part of SW Onatario's Barn Quilt Trail heritage project.
Modern conveniences added for your Sims include kitchen appliances, laundry, and 2 bathrooms (one located in the old Honey Hut). There are 4 bedrooms and a large unfinished basement. A playground and tree house will entice the kiddies, as will the large play space in the barn/garage loft. The kitchen garden is ready for planting. Part of my Historic Canada Series.
