Hi! Unfortunately, that happens sometimes.
it happened to me! You can try to put the files simpack (green icon sim) directly into the download folder in:
My Documents / ElectronicArts / The Sims 3. After this you will find it in the startup panel ready to be installed.
To me it always works. I do not take responsibility for any problems to your computer or game crash.
