UPDATE: this bug has been fixed in TSR CC Manager version 1.12 onwards.  Please ensure you're using the latest version!We're really sorry, but there is a known bug we haven't yet been able to fix with the TSR CC Manager.   We have it scheduled for fixing, but in the meantime you might need help with managing your archives.

What is it?

We call it the Giant Archives bug, and what this basically means is that the archives that the CC Manager is making in your TSRLibrary folder are not being divided into small archives, but instead one giant archive is being made.  The bigger the archive, the harder it is for CC Manager to deal with it, until in the end, the CC Manager either freezes with a white screen or gives "Out of memory" errors.

Who does it affect?

The bug ONLY affects people who are uninstalling and then reinstalling content inside the CC Manager.  In other words: moving content from the LIBRARY tab to the DOWNLOADS tab or vice versa.  Any content you download direct from the site is unaffected and works correctly.  In fact, part of the fix is to download a single file periodically which will force the CC Manager to start a new archive.

How do I know if I'm affected?

Locate your TSRLibrary folder.  This is usually found in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods\TSRLibrary.  You might need to switch the VIEW mode of your folder so you can see the file sizes (in Windows, with the folder open, choose VIEW at the top, then choose DETAILS).

The files in there should be around 250,000 to 300,000Kb in size (250-300Mb).  If they are, you're unaffected by the bug - all is fine.

However, if your files are significantly larger, say 1,000,000Kb (1,000Mb/1Gb) or more in size, that's becoming too big and the CC Manager will start to struggle.  We have seen archives in Support that are tens of gigabytes in size, so you won't be alone if you have some huge files!

How do I fix it?

We need you to follow these steps:

Temporarily uninstall all CC Manager content from the game

1. Open the CC Manager and ensure you're on the LIBRARY tab
2. Tick both ENABLED and DISABLED
3. Uninstall all downloads (this will just move them from the LIBRARY to the DOWNLOADS tab

Prepare the Library folder

1. Open the TSRLibrary folder (Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods\TSRLibrary
2. Delete everything from this folder (except the resource.cfg file if that exists)
3. Keep the folder open and make sure it is in DETAIL view so you can see file sizes (important), and position the folder on your screen so that you can see it while CC Manager is open beside it

Reinstall your content in 300Mb batches

1. Back in CC Manager, click the DOWNLOADS tab
2. Start installing your downloads.  You'll see an archive file added to your TSRLibrary folder which will grow in size as you install your content
3. Once the archive file reaches 300-500Mb (ie 300,000-500,000Kb), stop!
4. Now go to www.thesimsresource.com and download something with the CC Manager (use the Install with the TSR CC Manager button).  You don't need to keep the download.  It's just important you install something into your game from the site.
5. Downloading and installing a new file will force the CC Manager to close the previous archive file and start a new one.  You can now return to installing your content in the DOWNLOADS tab (and you can safely uninstall and delete the file you just downloaded unless you wish to keep it)

Keep repeating this, stopping and downloading a new file each time the archive file reaches 300-500Mb in size.

If at any point in doing this, you receive an error, stop, and try to find a link to the item you were installing when the error triggered (there is a 'view on web site' link on the item in CC Manager).  Obtain a fresh copy your log (settings > report a bug) and also the link to the file you were installing when the error happened, and contact Customer Support with both those things and we will see if we can find out what might be wrong.
